OWI/Zero Tolerance Requirements
If you have been arrested for OWI (Operating While Intoxicated) or have been issued a citation for Zero Tolerance, you are required to complete a substance abuse assessment and any recommended treatment.
In addition, you are required to complete an educational course for drinking drivers. Information on this will be provided at the time of your assessment.
These two requirements are mandated by the Iowa Department of Transportation for each individual who has had her/his driving privileges suspended for violation of Iowa Code 321.J.
Without completing these requirements, the Department of Transportation will NOT reinstate your driving privileges.
